Eden Mill Distillery
A low-carbon distillery on the Eden Estuary
Eden Mill returns whisky production to Guardbridge, where distilling first began over two centuries ago. Founded in 1810 by the Haig family—one of Scotland’s most influential whisky dynasties—the original Seggie Distillery later evolved into a paper mill, shaping the village’s industrial identity for nearly 150 years before falling silent in the early twenty-first century.
The project transforms the former paper mill into a contemporary, low-carbon distillery, retaining its robust industrial volume while introducing layered transparency that reveals the grain-to-glass process. With panoramic views across the Eden Estuary, Eden Mill is positioned as both a continuation of Guardbridge’s productive heritage and a resilient model for modern Scottish industry.
